We are a small team of web experts based in Hamburg, Germany
Hi! I’m Steffen Türoff, the founder of Webstake. After more than a decade of freelancing, successfully working in dozens of projects with large international corporations in Germany and Switzerland, I have decided to let my software and web development business grow beyond myself.
The extensive experience of a variety of teams, products and cultures has taught me about 2 major pain points in typical IT projects.
Misalignment of Incentives
Project teams are commonly augmented with external experts to acquire missing skills or simply increase manpower. And there is nothing wrong with that per se.
Friction emerges due to the widely accepted premise that consultants are to be paid by the hour. Consequently, the fundamental incentives for purchaser and contractor are polar opposites. One party wants to conclude the project in the shortest time, while the other side actually benefits from prolongation.
Another aspect is the often failed promise of programming frameworks and APIs to make development faster and more efficient. The reality is, there are so many options out there that many times the chosen technologies are well-known by a select expert or two while the rest of a project team have a vague idea of it at best. And any tool will only help you if you know how to use it.
For that reason I believe it makes sense to hire an external team of experts that are adept and experienced with their tools and can get a job done in shorter time and higher quality.
